F1- Hamilton to make acting debut in Turkey

(GMM) Lewis Hamilton is set to make his acting debut in Istanbul this week, ahead of Sunday's local Turkish grand prix.

The British formula one driver will reportedly make a fully-costumed guest appearance on Thursday on the stage of 'Troya'; an historical theatre show by the Turkish folkdance troupe Anadolu Atesi.

Is it just me, or is LH indulging in unnecessary distractions at a monumentally pivotal point in the season, for both him and McLaren. I'm starting to wonder if he, like the protagonist in “Cool Hand Luke” is displaying the kind of behavior that the Captain (played by Strother Martin) of the work Farm he was incarcerated at described as, in his words, to Paul Newman (Luke)

Well after last year, Lewis clearly needed acting lessons so when he finishes 2nd to his team-mate he can act like he is happy, and when finishing 2nd behind his competitors (Ferrari) he can act disappointed.

This was nothing more than a PR "opportunity", the kind of which teams and drivers take part in at every GP weekend. Rather than being a "fully-costumed" appearance Hamilton was there in his Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes overalls.

He's saying now he regrets doing it so, he obviously had a choice in the matter. I don't think he did anything terrible! all I'm saying is he admits he made a bad choice. In his own word he said it was bad for his image. Why? Because he chose or agreed, to do something that he now regrets. Why does he think it didn't help his cool persona? Because he looked silly, and thats funny!

Instead of doing bad PR actions, I recommend to Lewis to eat some Turkish dishes and sweets AFTER the race instead - and I recommend this to all drivers, because Turkish food is very cool :)

If someone can come up with a more rediculous PR stunt by an F1 Driver of any caliber I'd love to hear it. I believe Hamilton has broken new ground, in the arena of the absurd! Only Pee Wee Herman could have made this performance funnier! ;)

In his defense however, I believe that he really is commited to his day job. Because if he wasn't, he may have contemplated how awkward a stunt he was being coerced into doing!

That's why these guys have public relations people, and professional personal managers!
