Hi

Some Lithuanian crews drive cars in WRC rallies so I decided to make a thread about Lithuania rally championship.Maybe somebody will be interested in this so ask what you want,i'll try to keep this thread alive adding some information and some media files.If ofcourse will be people who want to know.I hope so.

So.There was very warm winter in Lithuania and Ist round of the championship Lukoil Winter rally was canceled.After this,IInd round Hansa Lizingas rally is first event of the championship.Rally will be held on 10-11 May.So it is the next weekend event.Whole rally contains of 117km of stages.One stage twice will be in Vilnius at Saturday and the fight will begin on gravel stages at Sunday.I don't know about the roads because it looks like the roads will be new.Last years there were very very fast gravel stages.

I cannot speak for other members, but i am always interested in any rallychampionship. So let the news come when you have it. I will for sure coming to this thread to follow this championship. :D

1,Vanagas(Impreza N4)
2,Čapkauskas(EVO 9 N4)+0,9

Before tomorrow stages there will be regrouping so fastest drivers made some tactics and finished in lower positions.Tomorrow for first cars will be harder conditions.More slippery than for the others.Big fight begins tomorrow.

Rally is finished.

First day was two stages in Vilnius.But real fight was on Sunday.On very fast gravel stages.Saulius Girdauskas with Fabia WRC left no chances for anybodie and won the rally by two minutes ahead second placed Vyatutas Švedas (EVO9 N4).Third left Deividas Jocius(EVO9 N4).After very bad second part of last season he made not bad result.Lets wait to see him in WRC :) Only fourth place took Rokas Lipeikis(EVO8 A8).I don't know why but after first day he was just in 13th place.But strong car let him to climb up to fourth place.5th Lithuania 2007 vice champion Audrius Gimžauskas with EVO9 N4.6th guest from Latvia Mris Neikšans. Very unfortunate rally for 2004 champion Evaldas Čirba.He was very fast after first day stages and very fast at first next morning stages but he had problems with gearbox and engine.So he has retired.

Drivers about the rally.
Saulius Girdauskas:"I am still a little bit embarasing with this car.Places where I can go with Mitsubishi 5th gear I have to go 3rd gear with Skoda."
Vytautas Švedas:"Man who was in top is behind me now(Rokas Lipeikis ;) ) ,but the other now is ahead.When I will beat him somebody will buy NASA rocket.This is life."
Deivydas Jocius:"How can I beat Švedas.He is driving like a mad man :D "
Rokas Lipeikis:"I thought that after first two stages won't be regrouping.So we cut our tires how much we could to clean the roads tomorrow,but suddenly we know that regrouping will be and the tires are cut.At first stages I was driving carefuly but later I pushed harder."
Evaldas Čirba:In service "We lost 2nd and 3rd gears.You know this is bad.Remember the school- "One two three four how it's cool" and now "One four...".Not that."

It looks like will be good fight between two WRC cars.

:) Nice.But is this Lancer asphalt specification?

Yes, Kresta used it only on tarmac, but I guess it isn't difficult to convert it to gravel spec. Kresta ran this car only two times, so it was almost new car when Jocius bought it :D BTW is there something new about Jocius and his Xsara project?

Girdauskas had a puncture in second stage so he lost time.Well.It looks like Jocius is the one that can race with latvians on their roads.Vytautas Švedas is just 13th overall.I think he will push at second day.Also battle is between 2WD leaders.Darius Vilimas is behind Artis Štraus(Civic R3) about 16 sec.

Can latvians say.Is Vorobjovs taking points in lithuanian championship?If he does than situation is a bit difference.

Two stages left and the situation is

Situation is really upside down.I don't know what happened to Lipeikis and Švedas also Čapkauskas.It looks like Gimžauskas for some reason is out of rally.So that is it.Situation is really strange now.Four Lithuanians is in top ten.Girdauskas is really pushing and he climbing higher and higher,but he can't beat Vasaraudzis.Perhaps home roads are doing this effect.It looks like Vilimas is trying to catch Štraus.Now he is behind 20sec.In last stage he won 4 sec.So we will see who will be the winner of this rally.

So the race is over.
The winner is Vasaraudzis, 2nd Vorobjovs 3rd Girdauskas

Audrius Gimžauskas and Deivydas Jocius broke wheels and out of rally.

Vilimas lost the battle between two R3 cars.2007 champion Rokas Lipeikis again left in 4th place.Girdauskas took good victory but in overall Vasaraudzis left no chances for anybody in Latvia.Perhaps Latvians and Lithuanians was fighting in their own fields and not between themselves but Latvians again proved that they are very fast and especialy on their roads.Well,who knows where Deivydas Jocius would be at the finish line,but rally is rally.

Next event in Lithuania rally championship will be held in the middle of June.Rally Saulė. About 100km narrow gravel stages.

Rally Saulė is finished.Girdauskas took another easily victory and Švedas rolled in the fight against second finished Jocius.Third left Lipeikis.
