Let me guess... An engine failure??? :)

Incredible how the 207 is rather good in reliability on IRC events but sometimes totally BAD on national events regarding this area :mark:

There was some problem with the exhaust in Solowow's car. He lost more than 3 minutes, but is still in the rally.

SS 13 is canceled. Two stages still to go.

So easy win for Bouffier, Kajetanowicz second at 1'07"9 and Czopik takes third at 1'32"2. A lot of retirements, that is a pitty, but at the end it is again Bouffier who takes it all :)

Not so easy win for Bouffier.Remember Małyszczycki. He was very very fast. And another great performance by Kajto. He is a superb driver.Nice rally for Czopik. And it is a pitty that Kuchar had some problems. And so low place for Kuzaj.

So,when the next rally will be held?

Malyszczycki was fast?! When and where?!

The next rally is Elmot and will be held on May 9. It's one of the nicest rallies in Poland and it's only some 50 kms from my home. Check out some photos from last year:

17th April 2008, 09:45
Holek is very popular in Poland, but rallying is not.
He takes part in TV shows, road safety actions, he is "the face" of Orlen petroleum company (he has also other, shorther term contrats), plays in tv commercials, is interviewed in different type of magazines and newspapers. Very important is that he knows how to be a public person.

17th April 2008, 17:02
the truth is that he refuses to carry the olympic torch not because of tibet but because it was planned that this ceremony will take place in chinese canton on 4th of june, and rajd polski starts on 6th...

Jarek Z
17th April 2008, 18:10
Yes, although he hasn't been competing in rallying on a regular basis for some 5 years, Holek is still very popular in Poland. But you should have seen what was going on here in his golden days - at the end of the nineties. He was the biggest star here, not only a sportsman... Even today it didn't change much. Last year they made a nation-wide poll asking people about the most popular sportsmen in Poland. If I remember correctly the results were 1) Adam Malysz (ski jumper), 2) Robert Kubica (F1 driver), 3) Krzysztof Holowczyc

Here is what Holowczyc said about his resignation of carrying the olympic torch:
After thinking about it for a long time, asking of opinions of many people and institutions, I decided to resign from taking part in the Olympic Torch relay. It is a way of my personal protest against mixing politics with sports.

More about it (in Polish) here:

Every driver using Impreza N14 is complaining, but I'm shure we will see more of new Subarus. The need of car's latest evolution is an obssesion in polish rallying. Unfortunately...
I'm impressed by Kajetanowicz's ride, it seems he is the only driver capable of beating S2000 guys (excluding Boufier of course).

With my friend we took a closer look at the driving line of Bouffier and other drivers. Poles are cutting the corners much deeper, but at the end the Frenchman is still faster.

Some surprises on the entry list for Subaru Rally, next round of the Polish championship:
Patrik Flodin - Subaru Impreza N14
Tomasz Kramarczyk - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX
Daniel Chwist - Fiat Punto S2000

One warning before you shout "Hurrah! Another S2000 car on the list!" - Chwist is one of the slowest drivers in Europe, I know it's hard to believe, but he's even worse than Szymon Ruta, so don't expect anything from him and stay off the road when he enters the stage... I don't know if it's the correct term in English, but it's the timing belt that broke in Solowow's car and destroyed the engine. It happened at the end of the first special stage.

On the second day the rally was canceled by the police because they were afraid of the large number of accidents caused by the rain and a very slippery tarmac roads near Cracow.

It wasn't a good event for anybody - the drivers, the spectators and organizers.

It's hard to believe that they will compete with Bouffier on first rally in S2000, but from Karkonoski Rally (very lucky rally for Kuchar - win in 2001 and 3rd in 1999, 2000) I think there will be great fight among Bouffier, Kuchar and Kuzaj.

What this article mean?
That Kuzaj will start competing with a 207 from STT racing and Flodin will take his place driving for Subaru till the end of the season?

Jarek Z
7th August 2008, 13:35
Your Polish is still improving Paulo, I'm impressed :)

Yes, that's exactly what the article says. Kuzaj will no longer be Subaru Poland driver and he will drive in a new team now. Replacing him in the Subaru seat until the end of the season will be Patrik Flodin from Sweden, who may be fast in PWRC, but is apparently not good enough on the Polish stages ;)
Unfortunately I don't know anything about the origin of Kuzaj's new car.

In the meantime, Kuchar said that he is very happy about his 207 S2000. He said this car reminds him something between the old kit car and a WRC car.
http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=3318&pg_[go]=7
It's good, because he spent a few years at the wheel of a beautiful Volkswagen Golf Kit Car
http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=524&pg_[go]=20
and Toyota Corolla WRC
http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=152&pg_[go]=200

So, Kuzaj and Kuchar have made everything not to drive Impreza N14. Also Frycz, whose N14 burned down completely on the Rally of Poland, doesn't seem to regret it at all. The only Polish driver who wants to drive N14 now is Marcin Beltowski:

Kuzaj - ................ ok I will write sth about him. Very nice to see him in A-group car, faster than Kuchar but...............
Kuchar - it's hard to judge him. I remember that there were more talented drivers in Poland for example Sztuka, Zaborowski, maybe Gielata, but he was surprisingly fast in WRC (2002, 2003, especially in Swedish Rally in 2002 - 12th place). In N-group car he wasn't so fast. For me his driving is not even. Maybe he need more time to handle the car. I think that now he has the last chance to show sth special. Super 2000 should be a good car for him.
Grzyb - showing great driving, can't wait for Barum Rally.
Bouffier - sad that he retired, we must wait for Karkonoski Rally to compare him with Kuzaj.
For me the best Polish driver is now not Grzyb but - Michal Kosciuszko (he's 2nd in Junior WRC, and was the only one who can battle with Bouffier).

Maybe you are right, who knows... But a good driver in my opinion is a driver that can be fast in any car, on any stage and collects the points. You can't say that about Sztuka. Sebastian Frycz said yesterday that he wants to attack the positions of Czopik and Flodin. Unfortunately he tried too hard. He went off the road on the first stage of today. He hit a tree and the car caught fire. Frycz was carried to hospital, but his injuries are probably not very serious.

Sebastian Frycz and his co-driver Jacek Rathe have left the hospital. They are both OK, but Frycz will have to wear a special orthopedic collar on his neck for a few days. Their Subaru has burnt down.

Bouffier is still leading in front of Kajetanowicz. Bebenek and Kuchar are fighting for the third place - only 3.6 seconds between them and one stage to go.

Thanks for the good news about Frycz and Rathe's health...that are the most important :)

Good to hear that Frycz is ok, but second burnt car in one season is a bit too much...

Bouffier was totaly dominating in the rally. Another great performance from him after Barum :)

Has Mariusz Malyzszczycki sold his 207 ????

Nobody knows and, to be honest, nobody cares about one more businessman driver on the entry list. More important is that Holowczyc will drive Pug 207 S2000 from TRT.

By the way, here is a gallery of photos taken by me and Raven on Karkonoski Rally. Enjoy! :)

Kuzaj will be the driver of PSO Rally Team in Orlen Rally, Frycz is injured/has no car. N14 was burned down in Rally Poland, N12 in Karkonoski Rally after heavy crash.

A new livery for Kuzaj' 207 then

Raven

I don't know, but Kuzaj already has PSO on his livery.

Krzysztof Holowczyc tested his Peugeot yesterday and is happy with the car. He says he wants to fight for victory. I strongly doubt it, but still wish gim good luck on the rally. The event starts on Saturday at 4 PM. Results as usual at http://www.subaru.pl

The photo of Holowczyc's car:

At last !!! Rajd Orlen is about to start !!! :bounce:

Very late compared to other polish rallies :mark:

Holowczyc says he wants to win the rally, and look at that, Jarek !!!! Best time on SS1(ahead of Staniszewski and Kajetanowicz) !!!! :D :D

Other S2000s are 9s+ after(Solowow, Bouffier, Kuchar)and Kuzaj even further(10th overall...+18s) :mark:

Tom206wrc
20th September 2008, 17:19
SS2 best time for Holka again, but Staniszewski and Kajto aren't far behind... ;)

Kuzaj is back after his average time of SS1(9th overall not far from top5/6)...

Good performance from swede Patrik Flodin in the ex-Kuzi Subaru N14(4th overall): he keeps most of the S2000s(including polish champion Bryan Bouffier)behind him ;)

Tom206wrc
20th September 2008, 17:26
Flash News !!!! Flodin doesn't start SS3 !!!!

Tom206wrc

Strangely the SSS would have given a certain advantage to S2000s

Staniszewski and Kajetanowicz lost several seconds to all the S2000s digging a bigger gap with leader Holowczyc and allowing Solowow and Bouffier to reduce gap with podium positions...

Tom, I'm even more surprised than you! Holek wins all four stages so far and comfortably leads the rally!

The last stage of today will start at 8:15 PM. Both Holek and Bouffier say that they don't like night stages. Kuzaj is complaining about slippery roads and gearbox that is too short.

Holka just 0.6s slower than Kuzi on SS5...for someone who doesn't like night stage, not too bad ;)

Edit: and Bouffier only 4.5s slower :)

Why has SS5 been stopped ???

Tom206wrc
21st September 2008, 08:00
Bouffier leg time was completely changed !!!!! He's third overall with only 26s late on Holowczyc

Kuzaj got a 30s penalty and is 8th overall after leg 1... :mark:

SS6 started...under rain

Mistake from leader Holowczyc with a jump start at SS8 !!! :s

Anyway even with 10s penalty he should keep his lead ;)

Tom206wrc

And Staniszewski also crashed in SS8(he was among the fastest GrN yesterday along with Kajto) !!! :mark:

With three stages left to go here the top6 classification:

1-Holowczyc
2-Bouffier(+31s for now but certainly +21s after Holka penalty for jump-start)
3-Solowow(+35s --> +25s)
4-Kajetanowicz(+37s --> +27s)
5-Kuchar(+1'28" --> +1'18")
5-ex Bebenek
...

The last loop of three stages to come, looks promising
