Just wanted to point out how WONDERFUL it is to see that 99.99% of the conversation here is about racing and race venues and damn little about the politics that so plagued these forums a few short months ago.

Vive la unification!

Now if Sanguin (now Waldo!) would stop his reposting every link, and stick with original posts (like his Best 500 driver thread) things would be a bit more perfect.

The season is a strong ripple, and next years will be a wave. I can't wait for May and the 500. Bump day will be full of suspense.

You've hit the nail on the head as to why the unification had to happen, division was incredibly damaging for everyone involved, it was all "us vs. them" and hence why nothing could really progress. I have personally been very satisfied with how the reunification has gone in the circumstances, the former Champ Car teams haven't been hopelessly uncompetitive on the ovals (Justin Wilson finished 9th at Kansas, the best so far for a former Champ Car team on an oval) and they have really shown their quality on the streets of St. Pete. I think for the first time in over a decade fans can be genuinely excited about the future of American open wheel racing.

Did I miss anything?

I know what you mean, Gary. I rarely come here to read or post since all I do is wait for the next race.

Thanks for unification.

JUST KIDDING !!!

If I want insane, inane, weird, hatertard, rants and vitriol, I check out the old CCF site (now renamed) and have a good laugh and nod my head in satisfaction that all the hate these people have will eventually drive them to eat themselves alive. Their numbers are dwindling as we speak.

GOD BLESS REUNIFICATION.

and God bless RACING fans from the old IRL and the old CART/CCWS.

Hahaha... i like i like.

I stopped coming here for a while because it became a Sanguin+other blind fanatics vs Racing fans. Now dont get me wrong, im a Champ car lad through and through, the last race at Long Beach was a very sad moment... But i can actually come here now and discuss racing related topics. Reunification isn't perfect by all means, nor is it the golden ticket to success, but we have one decent racing series now and Thank god for that.

Viva La Reunification!

Figuratively speaking I was in mourning for a while and I loved Long Beach but I agree with everyone that it is a pleasure. No D&G, no Paulie G string, a strong series, quality drivers in the main. Imagine next year and 2010 if Cotman et all get it right and their is no reason to suppose they will not. Even TG is now talking a possible turbo engine and more thatn one manufacturer. Guess that is a reflection of where Honda are but so what. Cosworth will jump in if Honda go while others might. The crowds are up. It is all good good good.

Watched the Motegi race last night on Five US. She won the race well done. Her interview was appalling. SO she would be good in F1. I never realised how bad her personallity is. She is like a piece of Card board. Flat. You just won your first major race, maybe your last. Cry by all means, but how can you cry and show no emotion? Have gone right off her, not that she was about to ask me out.

As for her talking about F1......C'mon!!!???? She hasn't won a championship. She won one race, that's it. Its good for the sport, its good for her, its good for the IRL and its great publicity. So it may bring a few more casual viewers to the tracks and to the tvs great. If she went to F1 she would not receive the benefits she gets now, how shall we say, the techincal support. People have won the IRL championship and not had a look in. Bourdais won four CCWS titles and only got a ride in a midfield team. Dream on Danica.....

The passion for AOWR is gone because the racing is predictable.
The only interest is keeping track of the Champ Car drivers.

Interest may change when the Champ Car innovations in rules and chassis and engine specifications become part of the IndyCar World Series.

Until then, record and fast forward the races is about as far as my interest goes.

How "predictable" was Dixon's loss on Sunday? How "predictable" was Graham Rahal's win in St. Pete? The only thing "predictable" is... oh never mind... there is no need to even say it.

Try this, ICS regulars will do well on ovals and CC regulars will do well on the rest of the venues.

And AGR teams usually pull something out at Motegi.

Gee, I can play the "wide generalizations = predictable racing" game too. How about "someone under 50 will win all the races this year" or how about "a Honda engine will power all the winners on the podium". Sure you can find ways of making the series feel "predictable" if you try hard enough. But if you are willing to open your eyes a bit, you just might find there is some real excitement to be had.

Ok, I restrained myself in the first reply, not so here. The only thing predictable is comments like "The passion for AOWR is gone because the racing is predictable." coming from folks who still can't get past the fact that there is ONE series now.

Gary

P.S. BTW thanks so much for hijacking a thread that had NOTHING to do with the messages you posted.

Wow, you didn't "quit"? I thought all you homers washed your hands of Open wheel racing and hopped over to ALMS, where you would pledge your allegiance.

Enough of the CC vs IRL garbage. It's over folks.

Is it CC vs IRL garbage, or is it the continuation of the split that began when Colin Chapman made the Watson roadsters obsolete?

A lot of bad feelings on both sides. I don't expect to ever see the end of it. The split will just find some new manifestation, perhaps when the new formula is announced.

True and predictable ( :p ). However, hijacking other people's threads in order to vent is not acceptable behavoir. Nor is continuing the hijack by engaging in a debate about it.

Smack's a good outlet for venting, and I'll do my best to behave myself here!
