It were the earliest days of S2000 cars and If I'm not wrong the winner was Paolo Andreucci with Fiat Punto S2000...

For sure it will be a terrific fight between Fiat and Peugeot.. but if it rains we should add Longhi, Aghini and Andreucci to fight for a podium finish.

There will another interesting things to follow in this rally..
for example, the début of C2R2 Maxi in CIR with Elwis Chentre.. a fast driver (but crashes too many times)... and Simone Campedelli with a Clio S1600.

Yes, it was Paolo Andreucci who was fastest in 2006. It was the only Punto S2000 out of three that finished the rally.

Very nice video Urabus, he has a very generous driving style. But that was with four wheel drive cars. Is he also any good with C2 R2 Max, and does he have much experience with this new car, or is it his first time in it? Thanks ;)

He has drove some rallies this season with the C2 R2,so I dont think it will be a big change for him.

I hope this year we would have a decent system of results on the web. Year after year 1000 miglia is always the same, one of the worst sites of the championship...Let's wait to see if the Italian organizers have learned how important is this question....

Accorind to www.s2000rally.com (http://www.s2000rally.com) Bassos and Travaglias cars are completely new.I think that the whole Abarth cars stuff came because Fontana started racing in his normal Grifone S2000.Travaglia used that car for the beginning of this season.Now Fontana gets Grifone Punto,Navarra keeps his usual Punto and Travaglia and Basso get new cars.Although I dont understand why they gave their Number 1 driver Tricos car(although completely new).

It seems that no one is driving Grifones Punto that Travaglia used in this season.Fontana is driving the newer Grifone Punto.

I completely agree with you Jarek, i don't even see the point of doing what they are doing. Ok you have to start at six events, but what good is it to be in a championship if you can't take any points, because you're not starting. Strange way of thinking in my honest opinion. ;)

This "starting" of events and then immediately retiring happened in the WRC in the past as well...
Never noticed the suspension on Alen's car when looking at the scruitineering pics at lunchtime but did think it was odd that other than the event stickers there were no "sponsor" decals anywhere....

Retiring after the starting ramp was common practice for lady drivers in the early 1990s when in order to be classified in the Ladies Cup standings (and have a chance of winning it) they had to start at least 7 rounds, including one outside Europe. Later this was changed to finishing at least 5 rounds, to prevent the starting ramp specials (often the training cars of other competitors that were rent out on the understanding that they would be retired at the first Time Control).
The 'one start outside Europe' rule also applied to the Group N Cup. In Argentina 1992 Fernando Capdevila was injured in a recce accident, but despite being in no fit state to compete on the rally, managed to drive over the starting ramp so that he would show up in the official Group N Cup classification at the end of the season.
And the most famous instance is probably the Rallye Côte d'Ivoire at the time when an event had to have 50 starters to keep its WRC status for the next year. The road after the starting line was often full of 'competitors' getting the starting numbers off their everyday vehicles...
About the superspecial: a nice result for Cavallini, but on such a short stage the differences are so small it's not going to have a major effect on the final result.
Judging by their times car numbers 32-35 had slightly better conditions. Torlasco is a good driver, but to be so fast with a S1600 car is probably caused by changing weather as well.
Results from stage 2 will start to come in soon. We'll know more then.

Thanks to our Czech friends, we have the best results service from the 1000 Miglia that I can remember :)
Rossetti and Basso are clearly quicker than the other ERC regulars, Isik is slow (problems?) and Vosa'hlo is already reported to have retired with engine trouble.

Isik made a spun yesterday.. so he lost to much time.. and to day.. had technical problem.
Rossetti won the first stage.. and guess who was close to him?? Mr. Piero Longhi.. who is having a brilliant start of the year...
Fiat must push really hard to equal the fight with Rossetti

It's raining in Italy.. and sometimes rain stop.. that could explain the big difference between them...
Look at the time of Chentre in the new C2 R2 MAX....
I don't believe he could reach the end of the rally.. but he did an impressive time!

Shame about Cantamessa's accident. On SS 2 the people who did not pay the ERC entry fee are the ones with the biggest smiles. Clearly improving conditions for the later runners. But on the next stage that can be different again. It looks like we're going to get some unexpected stage results :)
But whatever the conditions, Andreucci's performance is excellent! Gamba is again going very well with the Clio R3, like at the superspecial yesterday.

I know, if he pays he has the right to decide what's better for himself. Maybe he doesn't want to pay a service to give free images from his opponents, but how is possible to promove their sponsors only by this way?, How he can bring more enthusiasm to the ERC if he ignores the competition?.how he can add more value for this competition and so that also for his main sponsors?

Andreucci woke up well, as he is again fastest on today's first stage, stage 10. He takes it from Basso and Rosetti. :D
Longhi is loosing quite a lot of time on this stage (about 45 sec).

Yes the weather conditions are the same as yesterday, with some rain and fog. Probably Andreucci is the better driver especially in the rain i think. ;)

1 - To explain this lead of Ucci over S2000 it's not easy, and you must consider a lot of variables.
2 - I don't think Andreucci is Better than S2000 boys, I think they are all very good and they are almost at the same level.
3 - Even in wet roads, I think S2000 still with some advantage over the traditional GR N car. But... In this case, Basso and Rossetti passed yesterday too much early in comparison with Ucci.. and probably weather conditions played in favour of Ucci.. When Basso and Rossetti pass there was some fog, etc...
Analyse the stage times.. there are some stages where Basso took more than 20 sec. from the first pass!
But this doesn't mean Andreucci doesn't deserve this place... off course he deserve it! Look at what he is doing again today! there is only one word to explain this exhibition of Andreucci and Rallyart Italy : FANTASTIC!

I don't think Andreucci is that much better than Basso and Rossetti, but with all his experience he might have the edge in wet conditions. He is clearly having a great rally, and I hope he can go on until the end and take a deserved victory.

Paolo Andreucci is one of the best Italian drivers.
He is a very talented driver, with a particular style, he is always spectacular and very very fast, no matter the car. He was successful with Gr A cars, Gr N, WRC, S1600, S2000 and know he is back to Gr N again.
In the middle of 90's Ucci (his nickname in Italy) started to have some status in Italian Rallys, and teams started to give him some nice cars to get better results.

It was during Sanremo Rally, Andreucci was doing some brilliant times with his Mégane, but he eventually did some illegal reconnaissance of the itinerary and was DQ. Maybe it was the critical point of Andreucci's career... It could be the reason why he never got an International program :(
Then he started to drive Impreza WRC with Procar.

1. Ucci is on PIRELLI as the only one from those behind him. Pirelli were alway superior in wet condition.
2. Ucci was always great on wet.
3. Wet condition are the best possible for gr. N cars against S2000. They don't have problems with overheating tyres (due to big mass) and they also have good torque and good useful rpm ratio along with central active differential.
4. He is doing fantastic job there! :)

i think that the extreme torque from mitsu at low rpms (52-58kg@3000~ rpm) makes these cars more nervous at wet conditions.
rpms ratio as i know it is very narrow (2500-5000rpms) not better than a s200:rolleyes:

dimvii: Wrong since that rpm ratio is very wide! The car has more than one third longer gears than S2000.
For example Evo 9 has almost constant power from 3000-5000 rpm but it has very long gears (the power before and after that ratio is also not falling fast). S2000 has practicaly no constant power range. Some 90% and more are somewhere around 8000-8500 rpm and with at least one third closer gear ratios. If an S2000 has better rpm ratio than gr. N car it must have constant power in some 3000 rpm range and that is impossible.

so if the air have a loss of 10% at 1800metres you can imagine why the turbocharged engine has disadvantage at high altitudes

No, no, no. Completely wrong. The most important thing for any engine in gaining power is inlet pressure! And normaly aspirated engine has the pressure only slightly bigger than atmospheric (due to the amplitudes of the air flow). So the lower atmospheric pressure the lower power. But turbocharged engine is able to gain much more pressure not so limitated to atmospheric one. The power is lower too but not that much.
It was actualy the reason why they developped the turbochargers or superchargers for airplanes. You can easyly compare the same airplanes from for example WWII with non turbocharged and turbocharged versions of engine. Which one of them had better ceiling and how much? ;)

just a small example
turbo engine 2,0 l lets say that can push 3,0l inside cylinders
normal aspirated engines 2,0l can push inside 2,0l
if the air at 1000 metres loses oxygen 10% do that..
3000cc x 10%= 300cc
2000cc x 10%= 200cc :)

Dimviii: You are simply wrong just from the original idea. Sorry.
Emounth of air which is sucked into the cylinder (must be measured in mass units) depends on pressure difference. And the change of the pressure difference in turbo engine is in percentage always lower in any case. Turbo is always making more pressure than the engine is able to work with in lower atmospheric pressure. Wastegate valve which regulates absolute pressure is controlled by absolute pressure no matter the atmospheric one (changing wastegate valve characteristics is usual way of cheating).
Btw. One of common using of turbochargers in aircraft is to normalize the inlet pressure. Simply to make it constant in any altitude.

There realy is less mass of oxygen in the same volume, but that's why it must be counted in mass units but not volumetric (because there is also less mass of others due to a lower density). And density depends on what? An absolute pressure :)

Paul, try writing e-mails to the drivers. I tried it in the past (using e-mail addresses from their official websites) and both Travaglia and Rossetti sent me their hi-res photos without any problems. Good luck!
