reigning world champion and current points leader Kimi Raikkonen, an experienced motocross rider, uncharacteristically commented at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/06/the-tables-turn-at-the-bahrain-grand-prix-spoiler-alert/) that he'd like to follow in Schumacher's footpegs and try out a MotoGP racing bike

I read somewhere that Domenicalli won't agree to let Kimi test a bike before the end of the season.

Isn't that funny though that they have no objections to Kimi driving a motocross bike or attending snowmobile racing events?

IIRC that has already been mentioned as a possibility. Face it, all of this kind of talk is good publicity for Marlboro's teams in F1 & MotoGP.

Funny or not here's what Domenicalli said:

"With regards to Kimi, I would say that for sure he's using his motocross bike as we know, because he likes it, but I would say that he's more concentrating on four wheels now up to November and then we will see."

I know he said it.

I was just wondering how they allow him a couple of fairly dangerous sports - I don't think motoGP would be any more dangerous.

But I think that they try to limit his hobbies to the known dangerous ones instead of trying new ones.

I did not know if you read it or not, so I just posted it.

You are right, they are fully aware about what he does with his motocross bike and that it's somewhat dangerous.
I think that they do not want to interfere with his private life, but because this test is some kind of Marlboro advertising in disguise they can easily detract him from testing the Ducati and they are doing exactly that.

Casey barely drives anything on 4 wheels at the moment, so he's knocked that back for the time being.

I can't see it happening, but, it makes great news for the media. He may get the chance to have a ride, but I don't think his input would have any, if any significance to Ducati's race program.

Very smart man.

the streets are too dangerous for riding motorcycles because of cars driven by idiots.
