That is something about i wrote some weeks ago... but nobody believed in me. The private cars never are so good as the works car. is an ilusion to think they are. And th drivers also make the difference.

Mikko started the rally as he did in Norway... should this mean something? Atlinson is very far from the top and Citroen are not so fast as expected. it seems that the presence of Sordo in this rally in 2005 and 2006 is making effects on his times.

Yes, Henning and Jari-Matti got wrong cars after winter rallies. The fact that Henning was able to keep up with Hirvonen in Sweden proves that there cannot be substantial differencies between those cars. I also remember that Latvala set few top-times in Norway.

I think that Grönholm would have fought wins in few rallies at least in that same car. That's obvious for instance considering of Finland. If you watch the gap between Hirvonen and Grönholm in 2006 and relate it Hirvonen's speed in 2005 you can see that Grönholm would have been very fast even that old car.

It is likely that Gronholm would have fared better. At times Toni seemed to slip back to Skoda-mode, ie he just cruised to the end instead of really putting up a fight. But wins? Against Loeb? In 2005 spec Focus? Nah...

I´m waiting for Pentti´s comments about H-style pattern of gear shifting!Terve Mauri. Yes I talked with J-M a month ago about this. He told that he is so used this paddle shift and no need to calculate in down sift or watching read out. So I am bit surprised but in my case the most of my offs were then I lost concentration because some problems with car. A couple of years ago I went to world's biggest road rally I saw over hundred cars in this very difficult and tight hairpin junction. Guess what. None of them stalled an engine and all of them had H-pattern box. They had to come come from 4th gear to first very quickly. So they skipped gears going from 4th straight to 1st. You can't do it in these secuantial boxes. I know that these wrc cars have much lighter flywheel but still. Does any of you remember Colin doing these 360 turns in the middle of stages. He went from high gear to reverse and back to 1st gear. He even practise it on tests. Try to do it in these silly modern boxes.

World´s biggest road rally. What´s that?Road rallies are very popular in Uk. It's cheap. No helmets allowed. It's like normal special stage rally except roads are not closed!!! So they start in the middle of night to avoid people driving back from pubs! Almost all roads are on public tarmac roads. Entry fee £20,- and spectators(often a lot of them) can go free. Navication is difficult. Not as difficult or tricky as in navicational rallys in Finland but they go way faster. This is the main reason for so many good british co-drivers in the world.
