QATAR is looking to have an F1 race. They have already staged a night F1 rce and are planning to upgrade their track to host F1 races. It seems they are keen to have a night race, which will please Bernie greatly.

In addition, this will have the race run in the much cooler time of day. This will also create much more interest in QATAR for whatever they wish the attention for: finance, business and so on. Maybe they will even have their own F1 team in partnership with one of the existing ones - not beyond possibility, as money is no object to QATAR.
Unfortunately, this could also be another reason/excuse for Bernie to abandon Albert Park as a venue.

This could be good or bad news, It's an undeniable fact that F1 viewership in Asia increased significantly. There are more countries in the queue behind Singapore, India, and Korea to host the race, UAE might be also on the list. :)

We've already got a **** boring circuit plonked in the middle of the desert without spectators. It's really more than enough.

Spectator shouldn't be a major problem as it's been covered with advance guarantee, viewership are measured globally from TV or any other media. :)

Blimey, well they've had a trial run with the Moto GP race 3 weeks ago. Might have great facilities, but nobody turns up - what makes them think they'll turn up for an F1 race?

On the evidence of the GPM race (video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZz9GZ_g_zE&feature=related)) that took place at Qatar 2006 there will need to be a lot of upgrading, but Nigel Mansell did describe it as "the toughest race track I've ever driven on" :p

The whole track has about 4000 seats - that aren't even filled during the MotoGP race.
Please, please no.

It is sad that oil money can just about buy anything - it won't be long before it will buy the top Racehorse breeding concerns in Australia.
