Hi

This weekend at Stoneleigh near Coventry is a historic show called Race Retro. Bjorn Waldegard will be there along with the legend that is Markku Alen. Loads of GpB cars in action including Quattro Sport, Lancia 037, RS200, Ex-Works Manta's, a 205 T16 Safari car and the Ferrari rally car they made ages ago.

I just hope the weather is ok...

For the first time ever I found myself somewhat dissapointed by the SS display yesterday morning. Quite a lot of the promised cars such as the Ferrari etc failed to materialize. The gorgeous looking Rohrl S1 Quattro didnt run on Saturday morning, the Peugeot 405T16 and I believe the Fiat 131 Abarth jibbed due to fuel problems too. A number of cars seemed to have running problems, the Celica Twin Cam, 205T16 and both R5 Turbos (as normal) all seemed to be having real trouble running properly. As for the revised stage layout quite a lot of the crews including Kev Furber went the wrong way. This seemed to happen when the crews weren't accompanied by a nav. Whilst there was more variety of cars I'm not certain the Citroen GS and Visa and Fiat 130 Abarth (when did Miki Sundstrom drive a british registered right hooker Fiat?) that all looked like stickered up road cars and slow ones at that fitted with what was billed as a Group B demo?

Having said all that the Sport Quattro abd Brookes in the Manta were superb and an hour of these cars should be welcomed at any time

I was disappointed too. It was nice to see some old cars in action, but the 205t16 was driven very half-arsed, and only made one trip in the morning session before packing up and going home. Both R5's were poor, as Sal said the some of the cars just looked like glorified road cars, and even Markko Alen wasn't up to scratch, however, it was worth going to see the Quattro, although I would've liked him to do more runs (5 in 2 sessions), but the highlight was definately watching Bjorn Waldegard in the Mk1, that man can still drive and was very entertaining.

I hope to have some pictures up later in the week

Hi

I was at the show. I am wondering to see who was driving the Quattro, the Fiat Abarth, the Rothmans mk 2, the Celica, the Rothmans manta, the 2 RS200s, the 2 R5 turbos, the T16 and the metro??

I know the Rothmans Manta was a bloke called Gary G. I'll try and get all the details for you.
