So a month or two ago I posted a point sytem I had come up with (200, 173, 162, 154...) and someone said I should show how my system would work compared with the actual system. So I've been doing that this year. Here's NASCAR's top 15 after Atlanta.

1 Kyle Busch 665 -0
2 Greg Biffle 592 -73
3 Kevin Harvick 574 -91
4 Ryan Newman 571 -94
5 Jeff Burton 555 -110
6 Dale Earnhardt Jr 531 -134
7 Kasey Kahne 528 -137
8 Tony Stewart 525 -140
9 Brian Vickers 491 -174
10 Kurt Busch 478 -187
11 Martin Truex Jr 471 -194
12 Matt Kenseth 470 -195
13 Jimmie Johnson 467 -198
14 Bobby Labonte 462 -203
15 Jeff Gordon 444 -221

Here's what mine looks like.

1. Kyle Busch 640 -0
2. Kevin Harvick 547 -93
3. Greg Biffle 533 -107
4. Ryan Newman 516 -124
5. Tony Stewart 496 -144
6. Dale Earnhardt Jr. 493 -147
7. Jeff Burton 477 -163
8. Kasey Kahne 444 -196
9. Carl Edwards 421 -219
9. Kurt Busch 421 -219
11. Brian Vickers 398 - 242
12. Jeff Gordon 390 -250
13. Jimmie Johnson 384 -256
14. Matt Kenseth 383 -257
15. Martin Truex Jr. 376 -264

I'd like to point out that mine is not really complete since NASCAR doesn't publish which driver ran the fastest single lap during the race, and I want to give bonus points based on that. If you know where I can find that information, feel free to let me know. Otherwise I'll just give 2 points to the poll winners.

And to cut corners I'll only list drivers who run every race (or close to it).

I remember a few years ago nascar.com showed the fastest lap somewhere in results but I don't remember where exactly it was. And I suspect they don't do it any more anyway.
