Thank you for the news and links, Mirek.
Hopefully it will be a nice battle between Pech and Kresta. Do you know what are the plans of Vojtěch Štajf, Václav Arazim and Jan Votava? Will Karel Trněný again do the Sprintrally championship with the Octavia WRC?
Mirek
5th March 2008, 19:45
Stajf, Arazim and Votava should compete in international champ. too. Stajf has new N12B and both Arazím and Votava stay with their Evo 9. I think that most of them will be on Valasska rally too.
I think Karel Trneny will drive Fabia or Octavia WRC in rallysprints and in Slovakia (that car which will be free for the event).

The Octavia will compete in Hungary (again) this year with Garami. Don't expect from him anything he's a true gentleman driver.

He is driving the Octavia???
No disrespect for him,but I was hoping that his WRC days are over.
I was happy to hear that someone other will drive the Corolla ,but now he has an even better car!!!

He has a good running business, so he can enjoy his hobby in a wrc car. The Corolla may go for Turi, if the Fabia won't be available. He tested it last week at a rallysprint already.

On the video of Trojan, you can see that he and his codriver didn't put any helmets on. I think this isn't the smartest thing to do, even when only testing the car!!! :(

Agree but You know... It is quite common in testing. Unfortunately...
Another testing photos from this week. Roman Kresta himself with Evo 9:

Kresta is a very lucky man!!!First he tests a 207 with Petak, then his Evo 9 and now the JM Punto S2000!!!
He is already preparing for the Barum Rally Zlin.

He is a largely experienced technician. They want him to help them with settings. It is quite common in our country that Kresta is helping with setups of many drivers. His main goal is the same work for Martin Prokop.

Thank you for the updates, Mirek. Hopefully there will not more forfaits.
Do you think Kresta and Pech are in their own league or will an other driver also drive for the victory?
Mirek
26th March 2008, 17:35
We'll see how is Pavel Valousek's form. Josef Petak or Jaromir Tarabus can be up too but we haven't seen much from them in 4WD so far. I wonder how they will drive the S2000 cars. But it is sure that Kresta and Pech are the one to fight for victory.
It will be probably wet, muddy and very cold and that also may be important. There are also 3 stages in the night and not all drivers like it. Especialy stage Lhota is very hard even in daylight and there may be some snow on it because it is in higher altitude.

hi mirek!
it seems you know the rally very well, so would you give me some tips for the 2 friday stages?
i will be there, but unfortunatly only on friday, so i try to make the most out of it ;o))
i was at valasska rally last time in 2003 and i dont remember the stages very well...do you think it is possible to go from ss1 to ss2 (if i leave stage 1 after 15 cars) i ask because i would like to see two stages with "normal" light!
thx in advance

I'm not from there and I have not decided yet where to go on friday. But I don't recommend the move from stage 1 to 2. In the first section I'll be at the end of stage 2 in Mala Bystrice and for the second section I want to choose some place on stage Kelc since it is twice in one section.

SS 2/4

Good place for watching is on second spectator point, but you must park your car far from road. Very nice parts are from finish, you can park in Mala Bystrice.

On special stage two Roman Kresta is about 10 sec faster than Valousek!!!
wwbroe

Kresta is continuing his domination on stage three. He is now 5,4 sec faster than Valousek.

And the fourth fastest time in a row for Kresta, this time beating Valousek by 6,9 sec on stage four.

28th March 2008, 21:47
Surprise, surprise, it is Pech who is fastest on the last stage of the day. Kresta stays well in the lead with more than half a minute to Valousek. The rest of the stages is for tomorrow!!
wwbroe
29th March 2008, 11:19
Kresta keeps dominating this rally, Valousek still second bus loses a lot of tile on stage 7, so Kresta olmost a minute in front now.

Kresta won this rally easily, Pech beat Valousek for third place, fourth for Petak and fifth for Jaroslav. Group N cars were easily in front of the S2000 Peugeot of Petak, so conclusion could be that Petak isn't that fast???

It was the first time that Peták drove the Peugeot 207. My opinion is that Kresta, Pech and Valoušek are better drivers than him, too.

Petak is an old guy. I think he is about fifty years old or more. He has no chance to fight against Kresta or even Pech. He's not bad, but he is not like Snijers, Duez or Cunico, who still have the speed despite the passage of time...

Pech didnt beat Valousek, Valousek was beaten by himself. On penultimate stage he has lost more than 40 seconds due to puncture...

Well, I've just returned :)
From what is not here. Valousek had broken rear differential and punctured rear left wheel on stage 5 (in the very end) and again punctured the same wheel on stage 12 (in quite brutal rough part of the road where many punctures happened). Tarabus made a spin and stalled engine on stage 4 (20-30 seconds). The weather was very changeble and it was a bit lottery what to choose.

my original plan was to go for ss2 to the upper hairpin, but i arrived too late (from ss1) that i did not made it...
and for stage 4 i choose again the lower hairpin because there where more fotografers with theire flashes wich i used for the atmospheric pictures!
unfortunatly i had to leave on friday evening, but it was a great event, there are soo nice livery´s on the cars in your championship, even if there are many mitsus, but every car looks different and they are really good to watch!
