That RAC livery looks unfinished, those white stripes on the sills and bumper seem a bit random at the minute- maybe another sponsor to add?

Nice, a change from the silver and yellow which looked a little bland after a after. Nice to see Holiday Inn has found a new home

I just remembered what it reminds me of! Norwich City F.C. :D

I believe the VXR cars will look like the road car they were using at the Brands Hatch season launch event;

Thanks a bunch! I now am hoping we find Delia Smith working in the hospitlity tent!

That was just an innocent joke by the way. No need to take it as statement of fact. I don't actually expect Delia to start work in the hospitality tent at SEAT. It was just said to carry on with the theme that the colours remind Vkm of Norwich City which Delia is a director at.

Not bad, but its better than the old one :)

With the above problem safely avoided as a fan of the team I am very happy my favourite teams new livery has been well recieved. :)

Still prefer the WTCC Red Bull Seats.

Agreed. I am still pleased with the green/yellow livery but theirs something about a blue/yellow livery. Looks bolder.

I like the new SEAT, if just because it's a bit of a change!

But I don't like the new VX - looks a bit bland! They should go back to the 2005 paint scheme, ie without the Holiday Inn green - that looked a lot better!

ATF
12th March 2008, 10:40
There's some photos on crash...

The Robertshaw Lacetti looks very similar to the works WTCC cars, looks very professional indeed. From what you can see of Taylor's car, it looks the same as last year.

The new Alfa paint scheme is a bit...err...different!?

The Motorbase BMWs look well turned out.. I see also Jelley has #50, which has been given a bit of a bling touch as it's the "golden anniversary" year!

Facinating you say that.

Last year it was SEAT that was bland because I felt very much so the grey took away what was a very bold colour in the yellow and made it looked washed-out and dull.

Because the Holiday Inn sponsorship has been put on the Leon and not the Vectra, now it is the Leon that looks bolder and more striking. And because it is the Vectra that hasn't got the Holiday Inn sponsorship it is the Vectra that now looks bland and unimpressive.

Michael Doyles Civic doesn't look bad either

....isn't all these new liveries exciting! :)

OK - quick livery review:

VXR - Definitely prefer last year's livery!! The red grille is particularly bad.
SEAT - Really like the livery. Yellow and green clash a bit, but it stands out well!
RAC - So long as the car looks like it did at Silverstone last week, I think its an improvement on last years.
Halfords - Not much to say, its the same as last years really. Love the orange wheel trim tho!
Jackson - Not seen this car yet, must be better than last years tho!!
Arkas - Ditto
Robertshaw - Plain Chevvy blue, looks good
KWR - Not seen yet
Robertshaw Integra - Better than last year, still not too exciting
InTune - Fairly bland
BTC - Prefer the red of 2006. Not too bad tho
Team 48 - Green Alfas!! I kinda like it
Air Cool - Not seen yet
TH - Pretty much as with last year. Not bad but nothing special
Eurotech - ditto above

ATF
12th March 2008, 13:37
Just a couple of things to add to that...

There is a small pic of Jacksons BMW on the Autosport website - much better than last year (not too difficult though)!!

VX need a bit of black or something on the front - too much of the same red and yes, the grill is awful!

John George's Integra looks better with a red bonnet instead of white!

So how are we going to tell the difference between the red Integra and the red Vectra from a great distance? Who knows?

DazzlaF1
12th March 2008, 17:39
VXR: I like it, but why the red grill, id have preferred it if that was black
SEAT: Very striking, at least it gets rid of the grey
WSR: Like the new white trim
DYNAIMCS: Same as last year, but still very nice
BMW DEALERS: Nice and tidy looking, probably rivalling the Robershaw chevy's as my personal fave
MOTORBASE; Well backed and well presented as well, great to see Collard back
ARKAS: Same as last year, just with a new sponsor added, nice to see them expand to 2 cars though
EUROTECH: Very lovely, looks like something you'd see in NASCAR
ROBERTSHAW CHEVROLET: Always wanted to see those Chevy's in the BTCC, and in their blue livery as well
BTC LEXUS: Im in agreement, really preferred the red and white from last years media day, doesnt mean i dont like their black and silver here
ROBERTSHAW HONDA: Nothing special but better than the purple stripes from last year
TEAM 48: You'll have no trouble spotting that bright lime green in a crowd, very nice
TH: Looks a lot better with that Red bonnet
IN LINE: Seen pics of it on crash.net, looks very nice
KWR: n/a
AIRCOOL/GR ASIA: n/a
AFM: Hopefully we'll see them later in the season

All in all, a very colourful grid of potentially 29 cars at best, should be awesome

Not sure what car he is running though. Apparently the Honda has a problem so he's using the ZS till then.
Fiona is 90% sure of a return but with a different team and Dreadnaught are looking at doing the second half of the season. Like the Green Alfas!

Totally agree. I cannot take my eyes of it. I don't know what it is about the livery but to me it screams BMW.

I think it could be that over time it has become ingrained as a very simple but instantly recognisable corporate look for BMW.

I like it. A lot.

Just out of interest Crash.net has the race numbers for the drivers apart from Kerry & Leason (Team AFM/NJL) and Adcock & Mark Jones (Xero Competition). Does anyone know which numbers the four drivers have?

My opinion of the liveries:

VXR: This one is growing on me, the more I see it the more I like it.
SEAT: Fantastic.
WSR: I think it is an improvement over last year's.
Dynamics: Good as usual.
Jackson: Typical BMW. Not bad but bland.
Motorbase: See above.
Eurotech: I like that shade of light blue, glad they kept it.
Kartworld: With the supreme combination of Honda ZS or MG Integra, the livery looks nice.
TH: Finally! An all red Integra :D
Arkas: Too much white.
Robertshaw: The Chevies look wonderful. I like the chequered flag on Taylor's Honda.
BTC: I simply love it.
In-Tune: Too much white.
Team 48: Lurid colour. I hope they keep with it all year :D .

mattie007
12th March 2008, 20:42
VXR: Better than red and green
SEAT: Very nice, pick of the new liveries
WSR: Smart but lacking something
Dynamics: Stands out but nothing special
Jackson: Bland but, again, better than last year. Would like to see some UK stripes!
Motorbase: Better than expected
Eurotech: Professional job, love the fluorescent colours!
Kartworld: Viper stripes suit the ZS, be interesting to see the same design on an Integra
TH: Alot better now the white bonnet has gone
Arkas: Understated
Robertshaw: First time I have seen the blue in the flesh and I like it alot!
BTC: Suits the car very well.
In-Tune: Needs a bit of colour to get noticed!
Team 48: I love green!

My take on some of the liveries.

VXR: The grill looks even more like moulded plastic than last year, could do with the normal chrome finish I think. The rest of the car looks more like an interim livery, as though they just did a standard design before a sponsor comes on board with an influence on the final finish.

Seat: Just needs an Aussie Vineyards logo and an outline of a kangaroo to become popular down under! but I like it and should make it stand out better than the silver/yellow of old.

Robertshaw Chevrolets: Good to see the Chevrolet works colours on the grid even if its not a Chevrolet backed effort. Although I think Allisons car with 'Houseman dry lining' could of worked better with the darker blue than white (unless it was a late addition).

WSR: The new white additions breaks up the orange and looks good from what I've seen, but they seem to of been camera shy today.

The other BMW's: Jacksons new tie in with BMW gives them a good excuse for staying white I suppose, but I think Motorbase could of carried over the base design of last years Toledo liveries to break away from 'another bunch of all white BMWs'.

Of the others, the John Guest livery has always look good with a professional finish now theres 2 of them! The John George Integra looks a lot better, the BTC cars look ok. No doubt they would like a sponsor to influence their design more and the new Alfa's? well it makes a change from the normal red. I'd like to see what others colours they come up to go with it when they get some sponsors on board.

I thought I'd do a couple of quick 'what I had in mind' liveries:

I think the VX livery is the wrong shade of red. It is far too dull compared to previous incarnations. It definately needs the griffon and perhaps a bit more chrome. (I can't believe I wrote that.)
It needs to be rosier, richer and maybe sweep the graphics back.

Stick a Chrome strip on teh Vectra and it will make it look so much better. Then again, the VXR range has body coloured grilles.

VXR looks like it was thrown together at the last minute for the purpose of having a car for the media day. I'm sure that given 10 minutes with a decent piece of line art (and I've been looking long and hard) I could easily do better than this.

Those SEATS do look classy as do the TD Halfords Civics. Coporately they both look thought out properly.

Dunno why they can't use an Irmscher grille, they look cool on VX road cars

VX_Rules
17th March 2008, 15:57
They're really pushing the VXR branding, dithcing the griffin for just the VXR logo, And on the road VXRS the Grilles are body coloured to mark them, so this is why they wouldnt use an Irmy style grille, but the background of it definately should be black instead.

It's a bland livery and hopefully VXR will launch a "Design us a livery" competition :S.

There's no imagination.
