Looks like the usual suspects are at the top of the leader board with Tony Kanaan showing the way with a top speed of 212.796, fast lap 25.1227
Way to go Tony. Whether you're a CCWS fan or an IRL fan you can't help but like Tony Kanaan. Way to go Tony !!!
The biggest surprise is AJ IV with a top 5 position(P5) 211.992 and a fast lap of 25.2179. The Vision guys have AJ up there fast out of the box.
The rest of the top 5 .....
P2 Scott Dixon 212.591,lap 25.1469
P3 Helio Castroneves 212.390,lap 25.1707
P4 Dan Wheldon 212.139,lap 25.2004
Looks like Danica didn't run the afternoon session. Just noticed though... Marco put Danica's #7 Motorola car through the paces in the afternoon session.
The rest of the day's testing will resume under the lights at 7:15 EST

Looks like Dan Wheldon came on strong in the evening session. Danica still sits out and Marco is slow in her #7 car. Hideki Mutoh is impressive as well.

My pleasure .... the results I am REALLY looking forward to are the new driver and teams special test and practice session . Not sure when that is supposed to be though. If Newman Haas Lanigan is paired up with Rahal for "go fast" input, I don't know if they will gain anything. RHL didn't look impressive today . But it's so early in the game .

THANKS
Wow it looks like they won't get on their first oval testing until 6 days before the first race. It's going to be interesting to say the least.

Anyone know if they will be allowed to do any PRIVATE testing prior to any of this???

IRL rules do not permit private testing. Firestone controls the tires and teams cannot obtain tires outside of sanctioned tests and races.

I assumed that, but was not sure if they were relaxing the rules for the new teams until the first open test date. It might make sense to do that. But again ONLY until the first open test session, then clamp down again.

Do you think that Rahal might be at a disadvantage since it's a 1 car team, i.e. no other car to have as a dedicated drafting partner?
Sorry, if that sounds dumb, I'm new to this :)

Good for Dan. I hope that he'll win the 500 and the championship again! :)

Wasn't KV-racing testing the other day at Sebring?
