Henning had intercom problems yesterday and it seems none of you get that it's only his second tarmac rally and he hasen't even tested the Focus on tarmac. People like wilson has done 4 WRC on tarmac + all the national events.

Subarunorway you're one of the membres that i have in big consideration... please don't make me change mind with a coment like that. Henning is extremely slow, but as i said, is not only Henning, all the Stobart cars are very slow. I think a place on Kronos would have suited him very well with a Xsara. I have some doubts about the Stobart cars...

And please, don't pu Wilsonm and Henning at the same leve. Henning is undoubtable better.

Sordo has no permission to win this rally, not as long as Loeb is in top two.

I think it is only right that Citroen uses the team orders, Sordo is the second driver so as long as Loeb is leading and Gronholm reasonably far behind, he should not attack more than necessary.

Having said that I'd love to see a proper fight for the win, but we know how these things are.

WRC2006
19th January 2007, 11:27
Even before the start of the rally, Sordo had a clear instruction of finishing the rally first and score maximum points as possible. He doesn't have to push just to beat Loeb. Citroen plays the "waiting game". They will be following the time for Hivronen and Chris so they know what time to push or not.

I am very, very happy for both Citroën drivers, they are on correct positions-first and second! For all others-end of winter dreams (be in front of Super Seb!!). I hope C4 will manage without mechanichal problems. Again very bad start in 2007 for P.Solberg-even more, what kind of excuse will we get now, story of beeing on slower tyres is ended!!
Interesting to see also battle between N4 and S1600-on first four stages N4 cars were faster than S1600 (Prokop), I think this is because new 18 inch wheeles on N4!

Chris Atkinsons 4th position after 5 stages is quite encouraging, especially considering he is not at all renowned for his tarmac abilities. His third stage was quite fast although his pace has dropped right off through 4 and 5 for some reason.... is it different conditions or something compared to the other stages? Sorry here in australia all we get is stage times untill tomorrow morning when we get the day 1 highlights program...

teufel

I don't think Petter should find excuses. He's not the best tarmac driver, his only tarmac win came in wet conditions when Michelin struggled. If he finishes he'll be around 4-6th place which is okay for him, i think.

Agree. Actually, except for SS3 (where he had too hard compound + puncture), he has had reasonable good stage times. Three 4th times, behind the tarmac specialists in C4 + Marcus - that's exactly where I had anticipated him.

i think that's what's quite common amongst rally drivers, stars. Yesterday i was watching this report, and they showed Marcus on the service as he was signing some autographs. Quite understandable. In your days there were no laptops, no wise engineers, just mechanics and no high-tech electronics, so drivers had to decide the settings themselves.

Quite understandable. In your days there were no laptops, no wise engineers, just mechanics and no high-tech electronics, so drivers had to decide the settings themselves.Mauri. I am still involved in modern time so called high-tech electronics. It is just I am clever enough to turn most of them off!

Just example. Ask any rally drivers. Would you like to have this amazing gearbox, where You can change down straight from 6th gear down to 2nd or even 1rst gear. Thus not stalling engine and needed to count gears. It's called H-pattern gearbox. Now there I have heard about that gearbox before!
Guys go to your own cars and put gear liver into highest position(5th or 6th or reverse(pretending 6th).Then go down trough all gears until 1st and have somebody else to take time.Next do it from highest gear straight to 1st. Next punch this lap top guy.

Ford Finished the stage, was not happy

Mikko Hirvonen
Ford "Driving the car is a lot better. I was pushing like hell, but I didn't take a lot of time back in there"

Manfred Stohl
Citroen Finished stage with some damage to front right. "We lost the front brake completely, I was quite lucky to finish"

Petter Solberg
Subaru "I tried"

Chris Atkinson
Subaru "For some reason this stage seems to work for us. It's a tricky second pass, and the first time on a hard compound."

Jari-Matti Latvala
Ford "It felt quite alright, the sun was shining quite hard, difficult to see at some times. Just braking too early"

Henning Solberg
Ford "I lost my brakes in there, so I have to push the brakes twice before every corner" smoke coming from the rear of the car at the stage finish (brakes)

Matthew Wilson
Ford "There is a little bit more gravel about, also the stage is starting to dry out. There's some g-forces about!"

Jan Kopecky
Skoda "The brakes are a little bit overheated"
