Shouldn't be a surprise, the Fabia is a quick tarmac car still and Kopecky is an excellent tarmac driver. Go take a look at Catalunya or Germany 2006 stage times :)

Grönholm is losing too much..

He's 14.3 secs behind Seb on SS2

I don't think Gronholm is losing too much time. I think Seb's winning too much time. His injury seems to be totally recovered, and C4 seems to be an incredibly fast car.

Henning said that he would be surprised if he were amongst the 10 first after tonight - he were going to take it very easy. He has tested the car only once, and he has very little experience on tarmac. He actually said that they hadn't adjusted his seat belts before Shakedown!

I must say that despite that, I wouldn't have expected him SO far behind...

they are interviewing someone from pipo moteur on the french radio now! great interview!

And could you reveal what is he saying?

J4MIE
18th January 2007, 21:32
Well after seeing Sebastien's recovery last year which was awesome, I don't think he has to worry about being fastest on these stages and can go up a few gears if for some strange reason anyone can get close to him.

It's down to whether the car is reliable or not. I don't think they'll have a problem with it... but it has only been to stages today, still a long way to go.

White Sauron
18th January 2007, 21:48
But, IMHO, we shouldn't judge C4' speed by Monte results. it's not the car, it's the driver who makes the difference there. As example - Gro beat Sordo, who is very fast on tarmac.

A.F.F.
18th January 2007, 22:00
Juuso Pykälistö was a bit surprised about the speed of C4.

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting one. :)

my god, he is on fire, cant believe how competitive the fabia is in his hands.
... just imagine Duval driving it here ...

Finni
18th January 2007, 22:04
Afterall I could imagine that time sheets could be appr. same even in the case Loeb and sordo at the wheel of Xsara. But it would be hard to say that C4 wasn't at least as good as Xsara. I remember that last year they said after germany's tests that the C4 is faster on asphalt than the Xsara but on gravel it needs more work. Grönholm and Hirvonen were also off the pace on wet asphalt last year Germany.

Finni
18th January 2007, 22:07
I have a feeling that Loeb could win Monte even with Skoda Fabia (though Sordo with C4 could be too hard in that case).

i only heard a little bit as i was about to go.

the guy from the radio was asking someone from pipo moteur about the work they have carried out on the 307 wrc and the focus wrc 06 and he was saying the 307 wrc had the best wrc engine ever or something similar and who he thinks was gonna win the monte,etc.. and i did not hear the rest...

What a start for Citroen with a new car! I mean really! It couldn't be any better.

But I think this day will tell us much more.

I'm looking forward to see how this french guy Cuoq that Tom has been hyping will perform. Not doing nadly at the moment with old whale.

And give a big hand for Matt, isn't he doing great..

Tom206wrc

Cuoq know the stages of today(unlike the ones of yesterday) as they are run at his home, so today he MUST enter in the drivers points... ;)

Wim_Impreza

Not so fast. We don't know yet how reliable the C4 is.
It's just the beginning.
To ensure that a car is always reliable is very difficult. It has to be a steadfast effort and obsession. Keep in mind that a wrc car has to evolve every time so the reliability is in danger every time!!

It looks like Henning has increased his speed a little bit. Hope he gains more and more feel for the car, so that he could put in some even faster stage times.

However, I'm sure he desperately wants to drive all stages to familiar himself with the new car - after all, I don't think he at any point have had ambitions of getting any points from this weekend. His best chances for podiums comes in the next two rallies, and he needs all the time in the car he can get!
