View Full Version : Please Welcome the FGP For 2008!

FGP for 2008 has returned! The website will be up shortly but for now I wanted to post the rules and the rates so that everyone has enough time to submit their team. The budget this year has increased to 48,000,000 so you have a little more cash to build that winning team.

I must address two things before I get on to the rules and rates:

#1 - Super Aguri - They are going to stay where they are in the rates since they are still a functioning team. I do not see any worries as their rates are quite low anyway so no harm can be done.

#2 - McLaren - They are placed 2nd in the Chassis and Engine department after a thread was opened by me asking everyone who visits this forum and plays in the FGP to leave a comment as to where McL should be placed. Second won out by a one vote margin. I will not debate this again as everyone had an opportunity back in November.

And now the rules and rates for the 2008 version of the Fantasy Grand Prix:
You are the owner of a Formula One team with a budget of £48,000,000 for the 2008 season.

To complete your team, you need to pick three drivers (two drivers + a £1m driver), a chassis, an engine, and a bonus GP. A list of drivers, chassis and engines, with their relative prices can be found in the Price List. Two of your three drivers must come from this price list. Your third driver choice, who will cost you £1m, is any driver that does not appear on the price list. Finally you must pick a bonus GP which will score double points for your team at that race.

Points are awarded throughout the race weekend and are detailed below.

THE POINTS SYSTEM
Bonus Grand Prix
The Bonus GP chosen will earn double points for that race.
Drivers
First through eighth score the same as the F1 championship - 10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1
Pole Position - 2pts, Fastest Lap - 1pt
Chassis
First through eighth score the same as the F1 championship - 10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1
Engine
First through six score the same as the F1 championship - 10,8,6,5,4,3 (this is because there are only six engine mfg's in F1).

Only the first chassis and engine that crosses the line scores points for your team.
A race disqualification loses you all points for the disqualified driver/chassis/engine for that race weekend.
In the event of two or more FGP teams scoring the same amount of points by the end of the season the winner will be decided by the number of race wins achieved by the FGP teams involved. If the teams cannot be separated by wins then the team owner who was first to submit their FGP2008 entry wins.

Please submit you team in this thread.
All entries must be submitted by the end of March 13th, 2008!
And now, the rates:

I have my team already lined up but I thought it would be best if I did not post mine first. My reasoning is that I have pretty much had the rates complete since the end of last season (heck, I think it was 95% done the day after the Brazilian GP!).

So I am going to wait a week before putting my entry in, which I hope finally gets me out of mid-field!

There are some new faces in this year's FGP - Welcome!

If anymore new players show up - and I have yet to see our defending champion - here is one rule concerning team selection:

Please make sure, to the best of your ability, that your team is not the exact same as someone else's! You could have a match all the way to the engine with another team but if the Bonus GP's are different then the two teams are considered unique and will be accepted! Hopefully that will clear up a lot of confusion!

With all of this MS grabbing going on let me reiterate the rule regarding third drivers (this wasn't in the post about the rules but it has been enforced since ArrowsFA1 was running things, therefore I will be doing the same, AND posting it as part of the rules! :D ):

The third driver is your reserve driver. This third driver will only score points if he is driving in a race that one of your two race drivers misses.
Example - Adrian Sutil breaks an arm during the Australian GP and is out for the Malaysian GP. Vitantonio Liuzzi takes is place and finishes 8th. Currently, the only FGP that would score any points for Liuzzi is pino, because his drivers are Trulli, Sutil, and his third driver is Liuzzi.

Second example - A team has Barichello, Rosberg, Liuzzi. Barichello is thrown out of Honda before Malaysia and Sutil is out due to his broken arm to be replaced by Liuzzi. If Liuzzi goes on to score points this FGP team will get them as Liuzzi replaces Barichello.

Let me restate this - These are the only two ways your third driver can score points - by replacing one of your racing drivers, whether you have the race and reserve driver on a team (such as Force India) when the race driver is unavailable, or you get lucky and one of your race drivers is out (for ex - Honda) of the same GP that your third driver (ex - Force India) is racing in.

Please keep this in mind when you put your FGP team together.

Well, we still have in the neighborhood of 40 teams, if only the real F1 could field so many teams... :-)

I have been given the honour of setting up a team for Sir Bagley Ecclestone Esq.

Sir Bagley's first driver is the awesome Glock , going for $3mil .
Sir Bagley's second driver is french , and new , but Sir Bagley has much faith in Bourdais , nonetheless , for $2mil .
Kobayashi is Sir Bagley's choice for his third driver because he likes the way the sound of it rolls off his tongue , at $1mil .
Sir Bagley sees Force India as a force with which to be reckonned , and therefore would like to request it as chassis , for $2mil .
An unbeatable powerplant is obviously necessary , so a Honda will do just fine , for $8mil .
3+2+2+1+8=$16mil

That leaves $32mil with which I shall buy Mumms to fill Sir Bagley fine Corinthian leather lined pool .

What?? 32mil.....I think the FGP will step in and introduce Rule #5 - any money not spent by FGP teams automatically goes into the coffers of the FGP commissioner! Sir Bagley, my secretary will send you a form that you must fill out in order for the money to go to fan relations (what?!, no...no), TV coverage (Argh...No! Wait...I'm using my charitable pen, no wonder! *switches to greed pen* Ahhh...much better, now where was I....Ah!)
the correct Swiss bank account. Thank you for your cooperation.

Lastly, could you please verify the team name?

According to Sir Bagley's high priced team of litigators(emphasis on the "gators" part) , rule #6 states that there is no rule #5 for those who ventured a team prior to it's being mentioned in the thread .
His wishes are that you merely forward the cash to the Mumms people , as pocket change can be troublesome to the cut of one's trousers .

Sir Bagley's All-Stars is the name of the team .

Anymore of these outburst just goes to show what a unstable person you are. :D :cheese:

How could you ever talk that way about the kind, loving, understandable commissioner of the FGP? People say 'well, he has a vendetta against Sir Bagley' but I say that's rubbish. I nor the FGP have a vendetta against him or his team. We are just upholding the rules in order to bring the FGP to fair and balanced state.
