Just out of interest, how easy is it to fit another engine into another car, providing they are both from the same manufacturer. IE a Ford V8 into a different Ford car?

It will depend on factor such as the gearbox and whether the car is Front wheel drive/ Rear wheel drive.

I helped by brother put a 2litre ford engine into his Westfield and it was easy. (He wrote it off , nearly killing himself :( )

Alot depends on whether your using the original or donor gearbox. Then there's a whole host of other issues, like does the new engine actually fit, does it foul the steering or suspension, what side is the exhaust on ...........etc?

There are kits here in the colonies for installing Chevrolet 350 ci engines into Jag XJ6, XJS, and Porsche 911 s

If someone's done it before, there's probably a kit or at least instructions on the internet.

If not, then there's two ways to do it.

1) Bolt it in, and do only basic stuff like engine mounts and match the gearbox. It might work but it'll run like crap and probably not for long.
2) Do it properly. Add to the engine mounts and gearbox work to build a unique exhaust that doesn't restrict too much(and/or drag along the ground), provide adequate cooling, adapt a new air inlet to prevent restictions coming into the intake manifold, make sure your alternator is up to the job, depending on car/engine you may also need to beef up the chassis for the extra weight/torque, upgrade fuel tank pump for extra flow rates, stiffen suspension for extra weight, etc, etc..
