There are some well-known oddities on Google maps, like the capsized cruise liner in Korea and the crashed aeroplane in Ethiopia, but do you know any other, more local ones? I've just discovered this (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=denton+manchester&ie=UTF8&t=k&ll=53.416291,-2.152081&spn=0.002308,0.004989&z=18&iwloc=addr) one. It's a join between images taken many months apart and shows a ghostly car park in front of a Tesco store which wasn't built when the images to the left side of the map were taken.

The oddity that I know of is that my employer still allows me access to google maps and wikimapia :) .

Have you tried http://wikimapia.org/ it allows you to logon and then actually put markers on maps, cool stuff.
