Can you have a birthday when you have already died ? A memorial day would be more fitting. I salute the Godfather of the Italian supercar non the less. No disrespect intended by the way.

2008 also marks the 50th anniversary of Lotus in F1. They first appeared as a constructor at the Monco GP (http://www.forix.com/8w/lotus.html) where Cliff Allison drove a Lotus 12 to 6th place :s mokin:

Ahem! A Formula 1 Lotus 12 also appeared at the non-championship Daily Express International Trophy meeting two weeks before Monaco.

To quote the man himself in My Terrible Joys:
I was born in Modena, officially on the 20th February, 1898,although really it was on the 18th: the snow lay so deep that month, so my mother has told me, that it was only possible to get to the Registry Office two days after my birth

I watched this documentary where he said: "What I enjoy the most is giving sound and shape to raw metal". Also I always loved his idea to keep his "luxury" cars to a bare minimum of......"luxury". No electric powered windows in my cars !!! You don't like it? Get yourself a Toyota, then!! :)

The first race after his death was the Italian GP, in which Ferrari teammates Gerhard Berger and Michele Alboreto managed to honor his memory by providing a 1-2 victory, Ferrari's only win in 1988. Which I found fitting as well as odd, considering how well team McLaren was galloping on.
