Hey Man

Does anyone have a stage map for the 2005 rally de Portugal.
I was there, but I've lost my stage map.
I have found out that the stages are the same as the 2007 rally, but the 2007 map on the official site is hopeless as it has no town names etc.
I want to find out where I was at the time on google earth.

Cheers Man

Hi Sardelense

I think in the 5 or more years that I've been on the internet, that is by far the best answer I've had to any question I've asked on any forum.
That was exactly what I needed.
I've been placing pushpins (on virtual earth) into every place that I stayed during my 14 month campervan trip to Portugal in 2005.
I've spent the last 3 days searching the net and following roads their full length looking for the place where I watched the rally.
I found it shortly after following the routes you gave me.
Thanks a lot, I'm well chuffed now.

Cheers

Waigy

Here's a photo of the only slight accident I saw on the day by number 65 Fins.

That bridge is very different now.

It is different.
That must have been done for the rally, as that bridge probably sees about 2 cars and 5 tractors a year when the rally isn't on.
It's a very nice quiet part of the country.

The main difference between 2005 and 2007 is that now the stage "Serra de Tavira", that will not be run in 2008, has 2,6 km of the road used by the rally in tarmac. The road is the main access to a little village lost in the hills of Algarve.

The Rally of Portugal 2008 will have 7 diferent stages, only two will remain the same : "São Brás de Alportel" and "Ourique", all the other are new versions or new stages.

OK Sardalese, thank you already in advance. It would be great to have the stage map, so I can plan my trip to Portugal. Looking forward to see the result.

This water splash is in the stage "Loulé", in 2006 the Dakar crossed the same place :) I don´t know if the organisers let anyone to go there. You have another water splash in the stage "São Bras de Alportel".

The only jump I know is in the stage "Ourique"

The water splash I don´t know exactly where is. I know that is in the stage Loule, but the place exactly I don´t know, it´s after ZE3 for sure.

The jump is in the stage Ourique, +-1.7 km after this junction :

I've been looking in Google Earth to find the watersplash, and the only place that i can see that could be watersplash is approximatly 1 km before ZE4, where they seem to be crossing a small river. It is close to village of Fornalha, but like you said i don't know if organisers let you pass through there, maybe if you have media pass or something like that. ;) Maybe you can walk from ZE4 in stage to this point. At ZE4 they cross the same river but over a bridge. :D
