Not sure that this isn't the time yet to celebrate valentine's day because of the time difference, nobody talk about Valentine's day. I heard that on TV and Radio, listeners particularly of which are teenager send valentine greeting this multinational culture each other. I used to celebrate once in milieu of my high school friends, does people here celebrate it, to those celebrate Happy valentine's day.

Happy Valentines days indeed. I'll just be going to work and the off to the gym tonight as per usual. I am being taken to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the musical on Saturday night though. :D

I was at work, attending a study day. Apparently it was better than being on the ward would have been - when I went up there to sort out my roster everyone told me it was shockingly busy...

But as for Valentine's day greetings, I got one thing, on Facebook, which was nice. One of my friends was giving out chocolate to every woman he met during the study day, which was funny.

..nobody talk about Valentine's day.

That is the best suggestion I have ever heard! ;)

I'll probably regret not doing anything but I don't get to see the girl in question this week and I don't know her address :s

Do they have a public holiday named after him in Finland? If not, they should, even more so now that he is a member of parliament :D .

Actually I agree with you, V. D. is just another way for gullible people to be parted from their money. IMO in Australia it's just another imported americanism we could do without.

It was meant to be a sort of joke (play on words) about Ari Vatanen and how over the years people haven't been able to spell or pronounce his name.

Obviously it didn't work :) . I'll go back to my box now.

Heard a good'n the other day.

Why are women like condoms?
Cos they spend more time in yer wallet than on the end of your dick.

Trust me, I do have a romantic side. I am incredibly generous and giving. If a girl took a chance on me they would be showered with so many gifts and of course passionate hugs and kisses I would send her into 7th heaven. But it cannot come out because a)I don't know to attract one to find out if she can take a chance on me and b) I am not even sure if such a woman is attracred so someone of my appearance.

If theirs a day celebrating couples why can't their be a day (say the 15th February) celebrating singles? Why can't their be such a day just as a token that their not neglected and they are valued?

I don't have Valentines Day in the way some singles do. I just don't see how it can benefit them, what they get out of it and how it can make them happy. Their (Singletons) are asked not to spoil it and to be happy for people who are in relationships but how many suggestions are then subsequently made by those people to singletons on how to then therefore enjoy it? None.

I got it that you meant Ari Vatanen but he is a member of European parliament AND he was chosen there from France not from Finland :dozey:

No reason to go to your box ;)

Citizen of EU country can be a candidate in any other EU country for European Parliament, in case of Vatanen I think he had better chances to get selected in France than in Finland...

Whoah there, too much information! Glad you went no further! :)

Actually I have need of some advice about something I perhaps should have done in relation to Valentines Day.

This time last year I was on a course. One section of the staff was "recruitment". Long story but their was abour 3 (sometimes 4 women there) all of whom had the same role; to arrange for trials with companies in the sector clients were interested in. They were all different physically but they were all really nice so over time I came more and more out of my shell. One I like totally fell for. I only saw her again since leaving mid January on Facebook. But after I contacted her by message she seemed to dissapear and her profile has never reappeared since. I am worried she doesn't want to know me.

Thing is this; should I continue persuing her whilst stressing about whether she doesn't want to know me or stop persuing her and go for the safer bet? That being a girl I have known since pre-school who lives in a house I can see from where my desk is here. She isn't as stunning and seems very shy, timid and quiet (I think she may also a bit "slow" and not long ago had a nervous breakdown), but despite being very shy and very timid she feels 100% safe with me. I think she would like me asking her out.

What do you guys think?

YOu just reminded me of a conversation I had with my boss last month where he mentioned that Ari was trying to get him to go to a lap dancing club after the Autosport International show. :s Somehow I dont think Ari is an old romantic.... :p

I can highly recommend a Woo Woo concktail from TGI's Mark. :D I tried an Alabama Slammer for the first time last week which went down well, no idea if TGI's do them though.

What, you mean the various creams and ointments? Don't they work rather well?

What do you mean? You think camelopard is being sore about the whole day?

Because I actualy partly agree with camelopard. You look at the proliferation of VD related merchandise and their is so much of a variety of different styles, sizes and/or shapes and the price they put on them and their is a commerical element.

But I am a very generous and kind person to my allies so I don't mind about it.

It is the fact VD sort of marginalises a social group; denying singles that chance to spend money on loved ones on the basis they don't have a loved one to spend money on that bothers me. So to purely focus on the commercial asspect is a little wrong but they are right to point to the commerical asspect.

Commercialised Con Artists Day is what it really is. I love my wife every day of the year, not just one day when the world wants me to pay excessive prices to buy her flowers and chocolates

I had a lovely valentines day despite being at work. I got asked out by a fifteen year old via his colleague who works in the shop opposite ours which was pretty funny. Then my boyfriend picked me up, presented me with a rose and some choccies, we went out for an expensive but bloody fantastic meal at a local restaurant, then home for a few more drinks etc. :D ;)

Yeah, sorry about that. I got a bit over enthusiastic and sent you all your cards and then all the ones I'd bought for Breeze too.

Don't open the ticking ones, they were meant for Gordon Brown :p :
